Is A Student War

South Africa is one of the countries which believes that in order to get what you want from your boss, government or your officials you have to fight for it. Full story About #feesmustfall

Social media engagement on issues evolving around a brand can have both good and bad impact on the brand. During the #FeesMustFall campaign the brand had to also engage on social media in order to know what the students are speaking about and are planning to do, the other thing was to engage in the #FeesMustFall conversations, have a talk with the students tell them how they are planning to meet the student's needs. So in my own opinion i think that brands did not react well on the #FeesMustFall campaign, there was lack of communication between the Universities and the students, and the Universities where not active on social media, coverage of #FeesMustFall by the media.

The advantages of social media is that it leads to enhanced open communication with a large audience, which was the key thing for Universities to use during #FeesMustFall campaign, social media also allows brands and people to be in contact with each other and that would have made the Universities to be able to stop the campaign before it made a mess. How Universities responded to #FeesMustFall. The other impotent fact about social media is that it improves the reputation of the brands, that is only if the Universities would have engaged positively on the #feesmustfall campaign, and the campaign became a worldwide campaign as all universities joined in the campaign. Other countries affected by #feesmustfall

The disadvantages of social media to the brands like UJ and Wits is that the reputation of the brands became ruined and the Campaign became a world wide campaign and it ended up rising other hostages such as #ZumaMustFall and #BladeMustFall and many people and parties became involved, how brands reacted to #FeesMustFall

I would then recommend that brands react fast and quick on the trending hashtags in order to be able to manage the issue or crises before the become bad or worse. To also interact and actively participate on the in the conversations such as #FeesMustFall and #ZumaMustFall

  1. Yeah I think South Africa's belief in fighting for what they want from the authority comes from the fact that they fought tooth and nails for democracy and thanks to that South Africa now enjoys democracy and its perks. I do have a QUESTION however, what if the organization is indeed at fault for what people are accusing it for what then? how do organizations like that address issues like this?

  2. however it is up to every individual organization to deal with such issues and by trying to come up with solutions that may end the #FeesMustFall campaign. By dropping dawn the fees so that everyone may be able to access quality education

  4. In south Africa the only thing that would have stopped the student protest was only if they had prioritized education and invested in education, then our country would have been the best country ever

    1. The thing with education in our country is that it is not the first priority because the uneducated get successful more than the educated

    1. What I can say is that we do not have the assurance of the 2017 fees but what I can say is that students have sent a loud and clear massage to the universities and once they can attempt to raising the fees they will think twice before doing so
